the strangest thing happened. my graduation film Goner, which i uploaded last November (2006), disappeared from the Internet Archive. It uploaded successfully last year. I was able to give the link to people and the Quicktime file was intact too. otherwise I would've re-uploaded right away.
I happened to need the link to the Quicktime file earlier to give to somebody, so i went to Goner's Ourmedia node to get it. http://ourmedia.org/node/269385
The Ourmedia node is still there, but when you click on the Quicktime media link, you end up downloading a 7kb blank file (the video is gone), and when you click on the Internet Archive details page, you are redirected to an error page.
Weird. Anyway I reuploaded my film again today. new node: http://ourmedia.org/node/332203.
I still wish to know what happened to the old video though.
i didn't sweat too much about it though because at least it uploaded successfully. at least i don't have to upload again like yesterday.
Once your file is ready to download from archive.org servers Example: http://www.archive.org/details/your media name here
Please send me that URL to my email: kornyhiv@hotmail.com , and i will add it in one second to your ourmedia.org account.
i e-mailed him my problem last night and this morning, i got a reply. he's already put it up on its very own ourmedia node! he rules!!!
he also said that if ever i've other files that i need to add to ourmedia i shouldn't hesitate to contact him. the thing is, i do. i have two files that i put up on archive.org last year before ourmedia.org started.
i remember when ourmedia started i e-mailed tech support here if it was possible to add files that were already on archive.org to ourmedia. this was back in april ('05).
the reply i got was "Due to our current software configuration, I believe that it *is* necessary to upload your media again if you intend to have it listed using the standard format. You can certainly link to the media in any place that accepts a hyperlink, however.".
i didn't want to waste archive.org's hard drive space so i just tried to re-upload the smaller file (and just link to the bigger file through a personal ourmedia blog post). uploading the small file didn't work though. this was the node it created.
so anyway i e-mailed joshua back telling him about these two files, and then a couple of hours later, he e-mails back that their nodes have been created! wow he rocks!!!
hi i'm sorry i posted to ourmedia twice. it's just that it's been a little over a day since i posted my podcast for dec. 19, 2005 and the audio still wasn't showing up, so i re-posted tonight. it works fine now.
merry christmas to everybody in the ourmedia community!
