Hi Sarah
This was a difficult piece for me to come to terms with, it was shot the week everyone in Gulfport was hearing about the coming of Hurricane Rita and the shock and tragedy of Hurricane Katrina was still raw with the locals. As an aid worker with a small medical team we watched as the levels of fear, depression, anger and frustration was mounting in the people we were trying to help. This photo was taken about 12 hours before Rita arrived. I wanted to remove as much detail as possible and just let the raw emotion tell the story.

Red made me think of blood, then when I saw the car I thought "Oh, it's just a car", next thought being "God, that's a -car-.".
How are you and fellow aid workers doing? Is there enough time yet to debrief?
Sarah
