The Ourmedia community

Ourmedia is a gathering place for video producers, podcasters and other grassroots media makers to come together and connect.

While other sites are primarily geared toward a consumer audience, our focus is on the producer. On Ourmedia, members can view grassroots works, collaborate, find materials for remixing, hang out, discuss media, swap tips and ideas, ask questions, and help advance the personl media revolution.

Community pages

Here are the main community pages on Ourmedia:

• Community talk: Appearing on the site's front page and on its own page, Community talk pulls from several sources on Ourmedia. We're still fine-tuning it. Any member can post to the Community talk channel.

• Channels: Any registered user can create a channel, which can be a collection of favorite videos, a discussion area around a subject, or an archive of your own works. Channels can be created by a person for personal use, by an organization for a cause, by a political group to follow a subject, and so on. See our New Features page for a full explanation of channels.

• Members: We'll soon have a page listing the newest members to join Ourmedia. You can see the latest five members to join on nearly every page of the site.

• Community guidelines: the site’s code of conduct and comment policy.

• Deletion requests: please flag any media items or postings that violate the Site rules and undermine the Ourmedia community.

How the community can use us

On Ourmedia you can:

• Create your own channel and invite members to join.

• Learn how to create cool, high-quality media in our Learning Center or our partner community site, Freevlog.

• Discover legal, rights-cleared video footage, music and audio.

• Download SpinXpress, a free file-sharing tool that lets you collaborate, publish to multiple sites, and share files publicly or privately.

• Highlight your own works — whether on Ourmedia or elsewhere — and discuss video production or other grassroots media techniques.

• Meet other members by sending them a private message, or add them to your Buddies list.
